Video games are a big part of my life. For some, gaming time and interest decline as they get older, but not me: I’ve been playing them for almost three decades and average a few hours every day, as my will attest. To me, they’re not a way to kill time, but keep my mind active while also providing a way to relax, to experience and create stories, and to socialize with others in fun and interesting ways.
My parents bought me an SNES (bundled with Donkey Kong Country) in the early 90s which started me down a road that still shapes me to this day. Later, I would make the move to the Nintendo 64, playing many iconic and memorable games such as Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Mario Kart 64. Around 1999, a friend introduced to me to Half-Life, and I instantly knew I needed to get on this computer gaming thing, which soon resulted in a new PC to play it on. I quickly became engrossed all that the PC gaming platform could offer and haven’t looked back since. The flexibility of the platform allowed me to get involved with modding Half-Life, which gave me a creative outlet that I still remember fondly.
Today, I have thousands of hours in Elite Dangerous, a hard sci-fi space flight sim, and Path of Exile, a wonderfully deep and intricate fantasy action RPG. I upload gameplay videos of both from time to time to my .
